This is the day we started labor, Friday. I was feeling great and really excited. When I should have been sleeping and getting ready for the birth marathon, we did errands and cleaned up around the house.
A quiet moment during labor in the birthing pool. Saturday afternoon.
Aina arrives!!!! This was around 2am on Sunday morning after about a day and a half of labor. Mama, papa, baby and midwife were all exhausted, but happy with the outcome. We had a healthy, 7lb, 7oz little girl at our home in Minturn, CO. This is us getting a little O2 right after Aina's arrival. Somebody dropped the ball on my hair and makeup for this pic.
After everyone was stable, the birthing team (mama, papa, and midwife) took a much needed rest before completing all of the necessities once the sun came up, including getting Aina's weight and doing a more detailed newborn assessment.
Aina on the scales. That is my fabulous midwife's baby belly in the picture. She just had a baby boy!
Tired little baby. We did not do a great job on the just arrived pics, these will have to do!!
Aina had a little bit of jaundice, so this was her first tanning in the wonderful CO sunshine.
She is pretty comfy on papa's big arms! You'd think he has done this before, maybe with a few fish?
Hey there sweet cheeks! One day old.
Proud papa!!!
Yay! I love this post!! Thanks for the pictures and update. You guys are amazing. Such an inspiration. Aina is beautiful! (Cute goat hat, too!)
ReplyDeleteAw! I LOVE how big your belly got (especially compared to the rest of tiny you)! :) You are awesome!!! And Aina... just so perfect.... :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, when Beni was born I even had mascara smudged underneath my eyes... someone REALLY missed the boat on my make-up! :)
Oh no, you misunderstood me....I had mascara smudged under my eyes because it had yet to be washed off from the day before....my labor started around 10pm and got serious around 3am, but for some reason it never occurred to me to take a shower.
