One Month BDay

Almost smiling, these are getting common, but hard to catch.

Superbaby for Halloween?

Whoa, fat cheeks.

Tummy time.

Aina's first few weeks.

Here are some images of Aina's first few weeks in our lives.

40 weeks, right on time!

This is the day we started labor, Friday.  I was feeling great and really excited.  When I should have been sleeping and getting ready for the birth marathon, we did errands and cleaned up around the house.

A quiet moment during labor in the birthing pool.  Saturday afternoon.

Aina arrives!!!!  This was around 2am on Sunday morning after about a day and a half of labor.  Mama, papa, baby and midwife were all exhausted, but happy with the outcome.  We had a healthy, 7lb, 7oz little girl at our home in Minturn, CO.  This is us getting a little O2 right after Aina's arrival.  Somebody dropped the ball on my hair and makeup for this pic.

After everyone was stable, the birthing team (mama, papa, and midwife) took a much needed rest before completing all of the necessities once the sun came up, including getting Aina's weight and doing a more detailed newborn assessment.

Aina on the scales.  That is my fabulous midwife's baby belly in the picture.  She just had a baby boy!

Tired little baby.  We did not do a great job on the just arrived pics, these will have to do!!

Aina had a little bit of jaundice, so this was her first tanning in the wonderful CO sunshine.

She is pretty comfy on papa's big arms!  You'd think he has done this before, maybe with a few fish?

Hey there sweet cheeks!  One day old.

Proud papa!!!

39 WEEKS!!!!

Okay, bout to pop!!  Nothing too exciting to report, due next Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the calculation you use.  I am feeling great, getting lots of rest and finishing up tasks around the house, stuff I have been putting off for years!  My midwife says the baby is about 7.5 lbs and should be about 8 when s/he comes out to play.  Janis and I are both feeling ready and getting really excited for our new playmate.  Thanks again to you all for the amazing support and encouragement you have given us along the way.  Thanks so much to my mom and sister who have given lots of hand-me-downs and new baby gear to get us ready, we are feeling very gear prepared!!  Janis and I will try to send out a note to everyone, via email, text, or maybe here when the big event is underway.  I hear that Janis will be sending out a picture on Facebook once we have the little one in hand.  Love you all!!!

So, you may be asking yourself why these pictures are always so cheesy??  Janis and I have a little difference of opinion on me looking at the camera and smiling.  I don't have a great need for my mug to be in the pictures, but Janis seems to think it should.  So we end up getting a lot of really bad pictures of me half looking at the camera and then a few terrible ones that seem really staged, see picture 1 here.  Sorry, its all we can manage!!  It is a constant struggle every time until I cave and smile at the camera....really excited to have the little one at center stage real soon!
