Feisty baby

Who would have guessed this kid would be a little feisty, not me??  I often get a little tired in the afternoons after staring at graphs, numbers, and pages of jargon for too many hours and will take a break and either exercise or lie down.  Today was a lie down kind of day, so I went up to my room and grabbed the fetoscope to see if I could find the baby's heartbeat.  A fetoscope is just a stethoscope with a horn on the end that amplifies the sounds so we can hear that little heart earlier.  Janis has been able to hear it, but I am still having trouble and can only hear my own heartbeat.  The baby has been lying with head on the left and legs on the right almost the entire time since I starting feeling movement.  Kicks on the far right and small punches on the middle.  I put the fetoscope in the middle since I am assuming the little chest is there and felt a little punch.  Did not think anything of it, moved to the next spot, same thing.....hmm.  I put the scope where the feet are and got a nice strong kick right where the horn pressed in.  I kept testing it and sure enough I would get a punch or a kick right at the spot where I put the horn.  So strong I could hear it in the scope.  So this kid is either gonna be really good at sports or s/he is gonna be a bit of handful, maybe both!  The propensity for sports comes from Janis the propensity for stubbornness, I thought would come from me, but the more little snippets I get from Janis's mom are suggesting otherwise.  Rottenness could come from both of us!!  Guess I better try to eat as many brussel sprouts and as much broccoli as I can while the baby does not have a choice!

  1. I think this little sweet one is just saying, "Hello". I certainly don't remember you nor Rebecca being particularly lively this early. Maybe it is a boy!... or a little girl that is going to love to dance? Isn't it fun to play these guessing games?

  2. Beni was like that! She would always kick/punch at me when I poked at her. It was one of my favorite games. :)
